    Corps' first multi-benefit project moves forward at Hamilton City

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (April 25, 2011) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is moving forward on a first-of-a-kind project in Hamilton City, Calif. Slated to begin summer 2012, the Hamilton City Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration project focuses on measures that produce both flood risk reduction and ecosystem restoration benefits under the first successful application of Planning Civil Works Projects under the Environmental Operating Principles (EC 1105-2-404.) This Corps environmental sustainability guideline states projects should be formulated for multiple purposes whenever possible, subject to budgetary constraints.

    Corps hosts ‘Industry Day’ in Walla Walla and Boise to learn about federal contracting opportunities

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting “Industry Day” in Walla Walla, Wash., on April 28 and Boise, Idaho, on May 12. The district is inviting anyone interested in learning about tools needed to do business with the Corps, upcoming contract opportunities and how to compete for them, or showcasing their capabilities to Corps personnel. There is no charge to participate, but seating is limited, and RSVPs are required.

    Corps of Engineers completes Hanford Reach Interpretive Center draft Environmental Assessment and other key reviews

    Walla Walla, Wash. – The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center project. The Center is a project of the Richland Public Facilities District, which proposed to build on a project site on Corps-administered land located in Columbia Park West in Richland, Wash. The Corps proposes to approve construction of the Center if the proposed action is determined to not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and does not require preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a more in-depth document.
