• Aquatic restoration project at Harlan County Lake making progress

    Construction of the $9.25 million aquatic ecosystem restoration project continues to make progress at Harlan County Lake, Nebraska. The project is a partnership between the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and will help restore the Harlan County Lake aquatic ecosystem. Authorized under Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986, USACE awarded the construction contract on September 28, 2023. Majority of the federal funding for the project has been provided through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the 25% cost share is provided by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions Aquatic Habitat Fund.

    The USACE Jacksonville District (SAJ) will resume minimal flows west at 650 cubic feet per second (cfs) out of the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S79), Saturday, to provide low flows to the estuaries and mitigate stagnant conditions in the canals along the Caloosahatchee River.

  • Kaskaskia Solar Eclipse

    Please join us at the Kaskaskia River Project on Monday, April 8, 2024, for the solar eclipse. Eclipse glasses, one per person, will be available for those joining us while supplies last. The Project, campground, and picnic sites will be open on a first come, first serve basis. Parking will be limited to concrete and paved areas only. Lock tours will also be available at the Visitor Center from staff as they are available.

    This project is a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for seepage projects throughout the Memphis District. Typical construction task orders may include seepage berm construction, relief well construction, and all associated tasks with each of these construction processes as designated in each contract. The work on each task order will consist of furnishing all plant, labor, and materials for the work to be performed.
