HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - In the interest of public safety due to COVID-19 concerns, and in accordance with Center for Disease Control recommendations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District will be closing these additional Corps-managed day use recreational areas.
Dewey Lake’s Downstream day use area.
Grayson Lake’s Below Dam day use area, and Dam Site (except marina and launch ramp).
Paintsville Lake’s Downstream day use area.
- In Ohio- Atwood Lake’s Day Use Area.
- In Virginia- John W. Flannagan Dam and Reservoir’s Below Dam day use area.
These closures go into effect, April 9, at 5 p.m.
Huntington District boat ramps, trails, and fishing access sites remain open at this time. Fishing access at Locks and Dams will also remain open. All Huntington District project offices, visitor centers, restrooms, picnic shelters, campgrounds, beaches, and playgrounds remain closed until further notice.
While recreating at our facilities, the Corps would like to remind the public of the CDC’s recommendations for practicing “Social Distancing”, which include maintaining 6-foot spacing between people and no gatherings of 10 or more. For the status of State managed areas and marinas, the Corps recommends contacting those entities directly.
