    Two years after quake, military repair projects continue as USACE reflects on response efforts

    With the epicenter about 10 miles north of Anchorage, the Cook Inlet Earthquake registered a 7.1 magnitude and rocked most of Alaska’s population during the morning of November 30, 2018. First responders sprang into action, but once the dust settled the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District emerged as a reliable military partner inspecting and repairing infrastructure on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

    USACE responds to FEMA mission in aftermath of Oklahoma tornadoes

    OKLAHOMA CITY - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees were among the first on the scene following the May 2013 tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. Members of the USACE Emergency Support Function III deployed to the scene hours after destructive tornadoes ripped through several areas in the state, with the most extensive damage in the cities of Shawnee, Moore and El Reno.

  • USACE Philadelphia District supporting response to COVID-19 public health emergency

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is providing initial planning and engineering support for the States of New Jersey and Delaware to address possible medical facility shortages due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The mission, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the two states, is part of a nationwide federal, state and local effort to respond to the public health emergency.
