  • Corps closes recreation areas due to Willamette Valley fires

    Due to multiple fires burning throughout the Willamette Valley, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District is closing several recreation areas it manages near its dams.
  • Army Corps updates road closure status at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced the Route 940 entrance to the Francis E. Walter Dam will reopen on Sept. 18, 2020. The Bear Creek White Haven Road entrance to the dam will then close to traffic as road repairs shift to that area. Road repairs and paving work has been ongoing since June 2020 and is being conducted in phases. 
  • August inflows much below average in northern Missouri River Basin

    August precipitation was well-below normal in the Missouri River Basin, particularly in the western and far northern portions, which received less than 25% of normal precipitation. The lack of precipitation and dry soil conditions resulted in 74% of average August runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa (upper Basin). The 2020 calendar year forecast for the upper Basin, updated on September 1, is 30.6 million acre-feet (MAF), 119% of average. Average annual runoff for the upper Basin is 25.8 MAF. Runoff in the upper Basin during the remainder of 2020 is forecast to be below average.
  • Corps of Engineers Annual Day Use and America the Beautiful Annual Pass Extension

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The US Army Corps of Engineers will be extending the expiration date of the USACE Annual Day Use and America the Beautiful passes for seven months from the original expiration date for the passes issued between April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. The extension is only being accepted at the US Army Corps of Engineers managed facilities
