(April 23, 2020) – The Corps of Engineers’ team supporting clean-up efforts in Middle Tennessee in the wake of deadly tornadoes that devastated the region in early March is wrapping up its FEMA technical support mission where contractors have removed an estimated 450,000 cubic yards of debris, enough to fill 137 Olympic-size swimming pools.

  • Temporary Road and Park Closures at Lake Sidney Lanier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District Project Management Office at Lake Sidney Lanier advises the public that Buford Dam Road will be temporarily closed for roadway maintenance at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. It is expected that the work will be completed by 5 p.m. During this time, use Highway 20 as an alternate route.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announces the temporary closure of West Bank Park at Lake George W. Andrews, to complete repairs to the riverbank shoreline. High water events in February caused erosion along the bank, making the area unsafe for the public.
