  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 56 existing nationwide permits and issue one new nationwide permit authorizing activities associated with improving fish passage. Nationwide permits authorize activities in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.

USACE will propose not to reissue one nationwide permit authorizing activities associated with finfish mariculture.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has prepared its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE will propose to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.

    The Regulatory Branch is requesting comments on proposed changes to the current aquaculture permitting process in Maryland. Proposed changes include allowing unlimited project acreage for qualifying aquaculture activities and a concurrent application review process with Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District initiated emergency permitting procedures in response to conditions resulting from the April 2014 storm that affected the Florida Panhandle. The emergency permitting procedures will be in effect through October 2014.

  • NR 13-044: Nashville District Regulatory Office shuts down over lack of appropriations

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2013) – All U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulatory offices, including the Nashville District, will shut down today due to the absence of available federal appropriations. During the shutdown, regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations. Work on these actions will resume when regulatory offices reopen.
