    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Honolulu District, in partnership with the American Samoa Department of Port Administration (DPA) is announcing the release of a Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA) which identifies a proposed plan for shoreline protection at the Ofu Airport in American Samoa.
  • USACE, City and County of Honolulu invite public comment on Ala Wai Canal Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the City and County of Honolulu (CCH) invite public comment on the preparation of the Ala Wai Canal Flood Risk Management General Re-evaluation Study (Ala Wai FRM GR), Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) now through May 8, 2023. The Ala Wai FRM GR study is looking at ways to reduce physical and economic damages due to riverine flooding and to enhance life safety and community resilience throughout the entire Ala Wai watershed. Community involvement is crucial to ensuring the success of the Ala Wai FRM GR Study as it enters its next critical phase. To maximize community involvement, USACE in partnership with the CCH, will hold a virtual public meeting, Monday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m. to present the prospective plan, answer questions, and accept oral comments. The virtual meeting format will include an overview of the project, the NEPA/HEPA processes, and present the results of the plan formulation process to-date, including development, evaluation, and comparison of the final array of alternatives.     A draft integrated letter report and programmatic environmental assessment has been developed to determine the economic and environmental impacts of federal participation in state-managed watercraft inspection programs within the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Utah to protect the Upper Colorado River Basin. Comments on the draft Programmatic EA will be accepted during the public review period from April 3, to April 17, 2023.
  • USACE seeks public input for Honolulu Harbor modification feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District (USACE), in partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), is hosting two public scoping meetings, March 30 and 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., to seek input on the preparation of the Honolulu Harbor Modification Feasibility Study to address potential impacts with improving the Honolulu Harbor Federal navigation channel.
  • Corps of Engineers revises Enbridge Line 5 EIS schedule to ensure thorough analysis

    DETROIT – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, revises schedule following public scoping for Enbridge Line 5 Tunnel permit application review. Enbridge Energy seeks authorization to cross the Straits of Mackinac and impact adjacent wetlands for construction of the Line 5 Tunnel. The Detroit District, responsible for evaluating the permit application, received more than 17,000 public comments during the NEPA scoping period which ended on October 14, 2022. A scoping report summarizing the comments received, by topic, is available at: https://www.Line5TunnelEIS.com/public-notices/. “We greatly appreciate the meaningful input received throughout scoping and will use this information to shape studies and continuing consultations throughout development of our draft environmental impact statement” said Detroit District Commander Lt.   • Federal government puts limits on vessel calls, crude oil volume handled at BP Cherry Point Marine Terminal

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will modify the Department of the Army permit for the BP Cherry Point Marine Terminal’s North Wing dock. Modification will ensure the permit complies with the Magnuson Amendment’s restrictions regarding the handling of crude oil at Puget Sound facilities, and Endangered Species Act and other applicable legal requirements through additional permit conditions. This comes from the Record of Decision issued Monday, following completion of a Final Environmental Impact Statement released last August evaluating the potential impacts of the North Wing’s continued operation.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is requesting public comments for the proposed installation of a flow control feature within Neptune Pass, a newly enlarged pass on the east bank of the Mississippi River across from Buras in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The public comment period begins on Sept. 16 and concludes on Oct. 16, 2022.
