The Corps of Engineers announces a new programmatic Biological Opinion (JaxBo)

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District Regulatory Division, received a new Programmatic Biological Opinion (PBO), referred to as ‘JaxBO,’ from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to address consultation requirements for certain activities that may affect federally listed threatened and endangered species occurring throughout the State of Florida, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. JaxBo was issued Nov. 20.

Army Corps of Engineers Receives New Biological Opinion on the 2012 Nationwide Permits

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that it received a final biological opinion from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries on the nationwide permits that were reissued on Feb. 13, 2012, and went into effect on March 19, 2012. The biological opinion was issued on Nov. 24, 2014, and it concludes the re-initiated programmatic consultation on the Endangered Species Act that began in July 2012 between USACE and NOAA Fisheries.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet stabilization project receives biological opinion from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (Service) biological opinion of the Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet stabilization project concluding that while project activities will affect piping plovers, the project will not jeopardize the continued existence of this species.

NR 14-005: Fish and Wildlife Service completes Biological Opinion and the Corps approves plan to raise Lake Cumberland water level

NR 14-003: Corps, Fish and Wildlife Service address compliance requirements at Lake Cumberland

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 29, 2014) – In compliance with federal environmental laws and regulations, the Corps of Engineers Nashville District is actively consulting with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding the discovery of new populations of an existing endangered species in Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Until this consultation is completed, the Corps will target a maximum pool elevation of 705 feet, which is the same as the 2013 recreation season’s elevation.
