  • NR 14-005: Fish and Wildlife Service completes Biological Opinion and the Corps approves plan to raise Lake Cumberland water level

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2014) – Working closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over the past few months, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Monday finalized the Biological Opinion that clears the way for the Corps to resume normal operations at Lake Cumberland immediately.
  • Gavins Point releases will divert to spillway beginning March 26

    Due to maintenance and repairs at the Gavins Point Dam power plant, water releases, which normally run through the powerhouse, will be diverted to the spillway beginning Wednesday, March 26. "We are releasing the same amount of water that we normally would. The difference is, it will be more visible to the public because we will be using the spillway instead of the powerhouse," said Dave Becker, Operations Project Manager for Gavins Point.
  • Corps completes Monterey groundwater cleanup project ahead of schedule

    The Sacramento District has completed an $18 million groundwater cleanup environmental restoration project at the former Naval Auxiliary Air Station in Monterey, Calif., about 15 years and $4.5 million ahead of schedule.
  • CORPS REMINDS VISITORS OF LICK CREEK PARK PARTIAL CLOSURE

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District reminds visitors that because of budget constraints only the boat launch ramp and parking lot at Lick Creek Park, on Blue Mountain Lake, will remain open this year. The campgrounds, bathrooms and group shelter will no longer be available for use.

    BRANSON, Mo. - The Army Corps of Engineers opens six of its recreation areas April 1 for camping on Table Rock Lake. These parks include: Campbell Point, Cape Fair, Cricket Creek, Mill Creek, Old Highway 86, and Indian Point.
  • WORK ON BULL SHOALS DAM TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE ONE LANE OF ARKANSAS HIGHWAY 178 BRIDGE

    Mountain Home, Ark. – Upcoming maintenance on Bull Shoals Dam requires one lane of the Arkansas Highway 178 bridge across the dam to close beginning at 6:30 a.m. April 1 until 5 p.m. Aug. 15.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.
