    Every June, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District recognizes National Safety Month and takes time to reinforce the importance of safety in the workplace and across each of our projects. The Louisville District strives to complete projects ahead of time, under budget, safely; and June provides the perfect opportunity to focus on safety as construction projects are in full swing.

  • Huntsville Center to receive Army safety recognition

    Huntsville Center is the first USACE organization to be recommended for Army Safety and Occupational Health Star Recognition for completing all the stages of the Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Management System (CESOHMS) and integrating safety into all facets of the Center

  • Military Exercise at Wilson Lake during June

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants park goers and the public to know that a military exercise will be partly taking place at Wilson Lake from June 4 through June 28, 2022. The Kansas Air National Guard’s 184th Wing will conduct a military training exercise and will set up military equipment, tents and long-range communication systems on land near the Scenic Overlook or north Lucas Park. The purpose of the exercise is to test the operational readiness of the Airmen and equipment assigned to the unit.

  • 22-038 Corps updates Safe Lockage Policy for recreational vessels on Columbia, Snake rivers

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has put the following guidelines in place for the continued safe passage of recreational craft through the navigation locks at McNary, John Day, The Dalles, and Bonneville dams on the Columbia River, and Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite dams on the Snake River:

  • California ports, waterways and navigation discussed at CMANC conference

    Addressing the challenges facing coastal and inland waterways, senior leaders with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers participated in the first in-person meeting since the beginning of the pandemic with the California Marine Affairs and Navigation Conference May 18-20 at San Pedro.

  • Stay afloat and know before you get on the boat

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tomorrow starts National Safe Boating Week and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers urges you to stay afloat with responsible recreation before you step on the boat.   We encourage all water-vessel operators and passengers to take the safe-boating pledge and exercise caution while enjoying their favorite water-based activities during this national effort recognized May 21-27, 2022 by the Safe Boating Council. USACE is one of the nation’s leading providers of outdoor recreation with more than 400 lake and river projects, and wearing an approved life jacket is the simplest life-saving strategy for recreational boaters.

  • 22-035 Corps implements alcohol ban at Granite Point

    Walla Walla, WA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District will implement an alcohol ban at the Granite Point recreation site on Lower Granite Lake on May 27. This change is designed to enhance public safety and increase the overall recreation quality of the site.

  • 22-032 Lower Monumental Dam reopens public dam crossing

    Kahlotus, Wash. – Officials at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam have reopened dam crossings to the public after completing spillway gate repairs.

  • Louisville District Dam Safety team works hard to ensure dams are reliable

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for more than 700 dams across the United States that provide multiple benefits such as flood risk management, navigation, water supply, hydropower, environmental stewardship, fish and wildlife conservation, and recreation. Through the Dam Safety Program, USACE provides oversight for its dams and works to ensure they remain safe, reliable and able to provide their intended benefits.
