  • 18-002 Little Goose navigation lock to temporarily close Jan. 17

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Dam’s navigation lock will be closed to all vessel traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The temporary closure is necessary to provide safer conditions for divers working on the dam’s trash shear boom near the vicinity of the lock, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at the dam.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 14, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that work to replace water lines at Dale Hollow Dam Campground in Celina, Tenn., begins Dec. 18, 2017, making it necessary to close public access. The work is scheduled to be completed in March 2018, weather permitting.

  • Army Corps, Secret Service break ground on advanced K-9 training facility outside DC

    Just outside the National Capital Region, construction is underway on a new innovative center for some of the most highly-trained employees in the U.S. Secret Service. The roughly $9.6-million, 20,500 square-foot cutting-edge center will feature spacious, efficient work areas with proprietary equipment, multi-purpose rooms, an emergency medical area, plenty of natural light and superior ventilation. Its primary beneficiaries are not people, however — they’re Belgian Malamars and Dutch Shepherds.

    OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2017) – Distinguished officials dedicated the Construction Support Building today at the U.S. Department of Energy Y-12 National Security Complex, the first structure completed in support of the Uranium Processing Facility project.

  • Sunny Isles Beach renourishment starts soon

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces that construction starts soon for the Sunny Isles Beach renourishment project. The $8.6 million project is part of the Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project. The Corps’ contractor, Eastman Aggregate Enterprises, LLC of Lake Worth, Florida, will place approximately 140,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand from an upland sand mine on more than 4,400 feet of critically eroded shoreline in two locations, including both sides of the Newport Pier and at the north end of the city. Eastman Aggregates will truck-haul sand to Sunny Isles from the Vulcan Materials Witherspoon Sand Mine, located in Moore Haven, southwest of Lake Okeechobee.
