  • Army Corps turns its focus to Earth Day activities

    Taking care of the Earth is an everyday mission for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but the agency does find ways each spring to increase its emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship just a bit. This year is no different. From our district in Germany to Hawaii, from New England to southern California and many districts and divisions in between, the Corps of Engineers is observing Earth Day in a number of ways.
  • USACE employees go green in April

    From tree planting and spring cleanups to a “Green Campus Initiative,” U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel are making a difference as Earth Day approaches on April 22. Although Army Corps of Engineers employees take time to do something good for the environment on a daily basis, each April there is an increased emphasis on getting outdoors and working with community groups to do just a little bit more.
  • Activities help USACE celebrate Earth Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is marking the 33rd Earth Day with celebrations far and wide, and as diverse as possible, running the gamut from simple cleanups to educational activities for young and old alike. Headquarters Corps of Engineers will participate once again in the National Sustainable Design Expo April 18 and 19 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

    For 10 years, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has lived by its Environmental Operating Principles. The seven principles, often called the Corps of Engineers “Green Ethics,” have encouraged Corps employees to consider the environment in everything they do.
