• South Farm to host Wood Stork & Wading Bird Event Saturday, August 2, 2025

    A Wood Stork & Wading Bird Event will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at the South Farm of the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area Complex.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries would like to invite everyone to view this spectacle.  Wood storks and other wading and shore birds can be viewed in this area as they are drawn to feed in the South Farm’s water management units.

    ERDC welcomed Lt. Col. Joshua Haynes as its 13th commander during the Change of Command Ceremony on July 15, in the ERDC Headquarters Building. Haynes replaces outgoing Commander Col. Dr. Christian Patterson, who leaves ERDC after six years of service, three of which he served as commander.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New York District, will host two virtual public information sessions to provide an update on the New York-New Jersey Harbor and Tributaries Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study. These sessions precede the public release of the Draft Integrated Interim Response Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (Draft Report), which identifies proposed Actionable Elements—localized, near-term measures to reduce coastal storm risk in the region.

Sometimes, there can be a gap in knowledge, skills or abilities when a senior employee leaves an organization. Mack Landen, project manager with the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Civil Works Branch, saw a wave of employee departures and new hires at the district within the last few years not as a deficiency, but as an opportunity.
  • USACE Vicksburg District Announces Arkabutla Lake Archery Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces that Arkabutla Lake will hold its special management archery deer hunt October 24-26 and October 31 – November 2, 2025. Each of the two hunts will last three days and applicants must have a valid Mississippi hunting license.

Rather than replacing existing regulations, EQRIs offer a structured way to evaluate whether quality processes are being followed and if teams have the tools and skills to succeed. Feedback and honest responses from team members are central to improving project outcomes across the board.
