• Hartwell Dam and Lake Visitor Center Temporarily Closed to Public

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Hartwell Dam and Lake Visitor Center will be temporarily closed to the public beginning March 10, 2025.

  • Temporary Art Exhibit on Display at Illinois Waterway Visitor Center

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is hosting a temporary art exhibit at the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center located at 950 N. 27th Road in Ottawa, Illinois, now through June 1. The exhibit is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to the public. Reversing Course: The Illinois River in 1900 and Today compares black-and-white photos from 1894 to 1928 with color photographs created by Watershed Cairns® artists Libby Reuter and Joshua Rowan from 2018 to 2022. Historic and contemporary maps pinpoint the locations of the photos at eleven sites along the Illinois River. Labels placed between the paired images help to highlight the economic and ecological changes along the river over the past 120 years.
  • Gavins Point releases increasing for navigation flow support; Upper basin runoff stays below average

    The updated 2025 calendar year runoff forecast for the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, continues to be below average. February runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City was 1.0 million acre-feet, 91% of average. “Runoff into the reservoir system was slightly below average for the month of February and conditions across most of the basin remain dry,” said John Remus, chief of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Missouri River Basin Water Management Division.

  • Storm proofing contract awarded for Orleans Parish pump stations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded a contract to storm proof a pump station in New Orleans East so that it can remain operational during a commercial power outage event and reduce the risk of failure of the drainage system in the area.

    The tow haulage equipment at Lock No. 2 (NM 13.3) has been repaired and returned to service.
  • USACE issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a small craft advisory for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Arkansas. Heavy rainfall in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas over the last 24 hours has resulted in Arkansas River flows exceeding 70,000 cubic feet per second at Trimble Lock and Dam.

    The tow haulage equipment at Lock No. 2 (NM 13.3) is currently out of service. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.
