• Corps of Engineers to increase releases at Harry S. Truman Dam

    WARSAW, Mo. – The Kansas City District, Corps of Engineers will begin to release water stored behind Harry S. Truman Dam and increase flows as river levels at Hermann, Missouri continue to decline. For the past 30 days, the dam has been storing water in its flood control pool and is approximately 25 percent full.
  • Bureau of Engraving and Printing working with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to survey USDA site in Prince George’s County for facility relocation

    The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), has officially begun evaluating a 100-acre parcel on the USDA’s Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Prince George’s County, Maryland, as a possible site for the construction of a smaller, more efficient production facility. This facility would replace their downtown Washington facility, which is more than 100 years old.
  • Corps adjusts Lake O releases

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District continues to monitor conditions and has adjusted releases from Lake Okeechobee accordingly. Starting Saturday, March 30, the Corps reduced the pulse release to the Caloosahatchee estuary to a 7-day average rate of 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) from the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79), as planned. In addition, the Corps reduced flows to the St. Lucie estuary down to zero cfs as measured at the St. Lucie Lock and Dam (S-80). Additional runoff from rain in the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie basins could occasionally result in flows that exceed one or both targets
  • Army Corps of Engineers and New York City Mayor Announce Beginning of Process to Dredge East Rockaway Inlet, Paving the Way for Beach Re-Nourishment in the Rockaways

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio announced that a USACE contractor, Weeks Marine has begun moving work vessels, pipe, and other equipment to perform maintenance dredging of East Rockaway Inlet to beneficially use dredged sand to re-nourish and restore Rockaway beach between Beach 92nd Street and Beach 103rd Street.
  • Corps eager for rain in the Willamette Valley

    The start of spring signals something different to the Portland District – the halfway mark of refill season. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of refilling its 13 Willamette Valley reservoirs in preparation for the spring and summer conservation seasons. Refill season generally begins in February and ends in May.

  • Memphis District hosts Job Fair

    On March 14, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District held a Job Fair at the America Job Center, 3040 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis. The successful four hour event attracted approximately 50 potential candidates. At the time of the event, the District had 31 open positions listed on USAJobs.gov. Though the event is over, job seekers can still search openings with the district on USAJobs.gov or by going to the district’s website (https://www.mvm.usace.army.mil/) and clicking on the “Jobs” link.
