    Lone Point Campground Now Open At Lake Shelbyville Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville would like to announce Lone Point Campground is now open. Lone Point Campground is 100% reservable and campers must have a reservation through R1S prior to setting up on a campsite. Campers are reminded to follow CDC guidelines while recreating at Lake Shelbyville. Lone Point Group Camp is also open and available by online reservation. Group camp reservations must be 2 weeks in advance and no greater than 1 year in advance. The group camp is available for single site first come, first served camping when there are no reservations posted. For campsite availability or to make a reservation, please visit www.recreation.gov. Reservations by phone at 1-877-444-6777 are scheduled to resume on July 1, 2020.   • From Army Corps to Peace Corps and back

    Patricia Fontanet, a water resources planner with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, decided to put her Corps of Engineers-acquired skills to work in helping the people of La Trinidad, Philippines. She recently took on a seven-month assignment with the Peace Corps, working on projects such as developing a flood study, teaching disaster preparedness at elementary schools, and much more.

  • Grand Prairie Widened Canal Project pre-final inspection

    Congratulations to the Memphis District Grand Prairie Widened Canal Project Delivery Team (PDT) for reaching their Pre-final Inspection milestone. On June 17, PDT members met on-site with contractor Southern Contracting to inspect construction work and develop a punch list of remaining items required to finish construction.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4.1 million contract to S.M. Hentges & Sons Inc., of Jordan, Minnesota, June 18, to begin constructing a habitat restoration project between Shakopee and Savage, Minnesota.

    Memphis District Commander Col. Zachary Miller had a busy day June 17 kicking off a summer full of visiting several of the district's project sites in our area of responsibility. Encompassing almost 25,000 square miles, the Memphis District is responsible for federal civil works projects in portions of six states - Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
