    Four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville employees deployed to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, over the weekend to conduct critical public facilities assessments following Hurricane Irma.

    Huntsville Center's Electronic Security System team helping Fort McCoy upgrade security measures

    Fort McCoy, Wis., is an Installation Management Command installation, funded through the U.S. Army Reserve Command, which supports training and mobilization of Reserve and active component military personnel from all branches of America's Armed Forces. For the past three years, Fort McCoy's Directorate of Emergency Services has been working with the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville's Electronic Security Systems Program to upgrade its police station, access control points, ammunition supply point, the airfield and other facilities on the installation.

    Army MATOC: First awards under $7 billion renewable energy contract

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, working with the Army Energy Initiatives Task Force, awarded the first of its kind Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Multiple Award Task Order Contracts for the first technology under this contract to support renewable energy on Defense Department installations.

    The first of three wind turbines is installed at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, using an Energy Saving Performance Contract awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville.

    Going Green: Wind turbine installed on Fort Buchanan

    The first of three 275-kilowatt wind turbines to be erected on Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, started producing energy April 19. The turbines are part of a 10-project energy and water reduction effort that, in addition to installing wind power generation, includes solar photovoltaic systems, and water conservation measures.
