Vicky Person joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, team three years ago and has over 35 years of experience in the field of geotechnical, environmental and construction quality control in the Midwest.
Vicky obtained both her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Michigan and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Michigan. She also has taught engineering related courses at the college level for over ten years, and is an active member of “Engineers Without Borders.”
While working for the Detroit District, Vicky has been assigned as the technical engineering lead on numerous Interagency and International Support projects for the Environmental Protection Agency's St. Louis River area of concern delisting effort in Duluth-Superior Harbor near Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin. These projects require constant communication with numerous different federal, state and local governmental agencies. Vicky's vast experience in the field of geotechnical, environmental and construction quality control has proven time and time again to be invaluable to this effort and has resulted in the execution of numerous ecosystem improvement and environmental re-mediation projects in the Duluth-Superior Harbor.
In addition to the difference she is making within the Duluth-Superior Harbor, Vicky is also a tremendous mentor to younger engineers, an active member of the Corps’ Geotechnical, Geology and Materials Community of Practice and was recently selected to be part of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division operational condition assessment team. Vicky's outstanding communication skills, positive personality and technical competency are instrumental not only to the district team, but the entire agency.
