Annual Step Outside Day cancelled

Published March 24, 2020

KROTZ SPRINGS, La. – The 16th Annual STEP OUTSIDE Day, which was scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area in the Atchafalaya Basin has been cancelled in response to the novel coronavirus.

This locally sponsored event is co-hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. STEP OUTSIDE Day is free and provides adults and children with an opportunity to engage in safe, hands-on outdoor activities.

STEP OUTSIDE is a national program administered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to increase participation in outdoor sports. In previous years about 500 registrants participated in the event. This event normally includes fishing, archery, boating, target and trap shooting, blue bird box building, canoeing, live wildlife, dog training, raptors and owl pellet dissection.
