RISEUP Program Launches to Help Temporarily Repair Metal Roofs
GUAM - The U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in coordination with the Office of the Governor, Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mayor’s Council of Guam, have launched the Roofing Installation Support Emergency Utilization Program (RISEUP) to help temporarily repair metal roofs damaged by Typhoon Mawar.

My Hurricane Laura Deployment Experience
Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself. Most recently, I was deployed down to Lafayette, Louisiana, along with several other USACE teammates, and we were assigned to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s temporary housing mission.

Corps continues to tackle ‘difficult to access’ properties
The Corps is edging closer to completing cleanup of debris on properties affected by the October 2017 wildfires that swept through Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties. The cleanup efforts are nearly nonstop; however, like leaving the toughest portions of a jigsaw puzzle for last, so goes the cleanup of what the Corps calls ‘difficult to access’ properties.

USACE receives three debris removal missions from FEMA
BROOKLYN, New York – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued three mission assignments for debris removal in New York and New Jersey to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in response to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. USACE crews were deployed Nov. 5 to begin clearing storm-damaged areas.

Seattle District deploys local employees for Hurricane Laura recovery
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, deployed local technical experts to Louisiana Aug. 29 to support Hurricane Laura recovery efforts. A five-person Infrastructure Assessment Planning and Response Team deployed to assist the state with damage assessments of water and wastewater treatment facilities. They are also evaluating critical public infrastructure to determine if emergency repairs are necessary.

Army Corps in Baltimore on alert preparing for potential Hurricane Isaias impacts
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is actively preparing for potential impacts from Hurricane Isaias, which could reach the mid-Atlantic region in the coming days. The District’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated at 2 Hopkins Plaza in downtown Baltimore and virtually to coordinate all emergency response activities.
