  • Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP)

    The Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP), seeks to provide a safe, reliable, cost effective and environment sustainable waterborne navigation system by implementing switchboats at five locks, constructing mooring cells and seven new 1,200 foot locks. NESP will restore the aquatic and terrestrial habitat to a more natural condition on more than 100,000 acres throughout the system through a wide variety of ecosystem projects.

    Huntsville Center has an industry day set from 1— 4 p.m., Jan. 15, for International Remediation & Environmental Services. The Center anticipates awarding a contract for a three year base ordering period, and a two-year optional ordering period. The anticipated program capacity is approximately $750 Million.

    Army Corps of Engineers, other federal agencies release Asian carp environmental DNA study findings

    CHICAGO -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey, released an interim report for the Asian Carp Environmental DNA Calibration Study, today, which is a three-year study funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, as scoped by the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee Asian Carp Control Strategy Framework.
