General visits northernmost USACE-run flood control project

Evaluating the engineering benefits of Florida’s mangrove forests
Along the Florida coastline, forests of trees with a dense tangle of prop roots appear to be standing on stilts above the water. These trees, or mangroves, are not only magnificent to see, but are a key element in protecting coastlines and communities during coastal storms. Army Corps announces Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes closures and updates
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will close Ives Run Campground, the Ives Run camp store and the South Shore concessionaire from Oct. 31, 2020 to May 1, 2021, in conjunction with the end of the 2020 recreation season. Additionally, the Lambs Creek Recreation Area boat launch is closed until further notice due to low lake surface water elevations resulting from a lack in precipitation.

Temporary Closure: Eads St. between Abundance St. and Treasure St.
Eads Street between Abundance Street and Treasure Street will be closed on Saturday October 31, 2020 while temporary roadway repairs are being performed. This temporary closure is related to construction of new box culverts to enhance drainage in the area.

Corps to host public meeting for the Mojave Dam Master Plan revision
The current master plans are in need of revision to address changes in regional land use, population, outdoor recreation trends, and USACE management policy. Key topics to be addressed in the revised master plans include revised land classifications, revised natural, cultural, and recreational resource management objectives, recreation facility needs, and special topics such as off highway vehicle use and threatened and endangered species habitat.

Minneapolis locks closing for the end of navigation season
