    AHSAHKA, Idaho –Dworshak Dam has decreased discharges to minimum releases of 1,600 cubic feet per second (cfs) as the reservoir enters the spring refill season.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho –Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases from 7,800 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 1,600 cfs to conserve water for refill. Decreases begin today, April 16, and finish Wednesday, April 21. Fluctuations (up and down) in river flow will be observed April 20 during unit testing. Due to an increase in natural flows, the decreases in Dworshak flows on April 16-19 and 21 are expected to have a minimal impact on water levels.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho –Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases from 9,700 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 6,900 cfs to conserve water between hatchery releases, which resume Monday, April 12. Current basin conditions and a forecast for slightly below normal precipitation for the next 10 days drive the decrease.

  • Spillway gate and generator maintenance will cause water releases throughout October’s paddlefish season

    Anglers in the area for paddlefish snagging season will have some short disruptions due to spillway gate maintenance at Gavins Point Dam, near Yankton, SD, through October 16. The maintenance will require water to flow from a single gate several times a day for 10-15 minutes at a time. Beginning October 19, when upgrades are scheduled for generators, multiple spillway gates will remain open 24 hours a day.

  • Block release of water scheduled to begin from Santa Rosa Reservoir Sept. 28, 2020

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District, announced that it has scheduled a block release of water from Santa Rosa Lake to start Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at 8:00 am.

  • Pipestem Reservoir reaches expected summer release

    Reservoir releases are being increased from Pipestem Dam to its expected summer release. The current pool elevation at Pipestem Dam is 1478.5 feet, almost 51% into its flood pool. Lake levels peaked this year on June 3 at 1479.4 feet, almost 53% into its flood pool. Today, releases are being increased from 450 cubic feet per second to 550 cfs. This release is expected to stay constant for the remainder of the summer. The target date for flood control evacuation at Pipestem Dam is Sept. 1.

    OMAHA, Neb. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, will begin a small low-level release at Zorinsky Lake in Omaha on Friday to improve the water quality of the lake.

  • Corps at Rathbun Lake to conduct a fall pulse in late September

    In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers updated the Chariton River Water Regulation Manual and incorporated new adaptive water management strategies benefiting interests both upstream and downstream of the Rathbun Lake dam. One of the adaptive water management strategies in the new manual allows for a ‘fall pulse’ or increased water release for a short duration from the lake. This fall pulse gives the Corps the ability to increase water in support of downstream wildlife management goals on state and privately owned lands.
