    WIESBADEN, Germany – Top engineers have begun outlining the steps they’ll take in two major programs to bolster allies while streamlining U.S. forces and assets in Europe over the next several years. Discussions about the European Reassurance Initiative and European Infrastructure Consolidation came during the 2015 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District Partner Workshop.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $3.2 million contract Sept. 18 to Federal Solutions Group, Inc. of Dublin to construct an engineering and housing maintenance shop at Military Ocean Terminal Concord, better known as MOTCO.

    Construction nears completion on a $20.5 million environmentally-friendly elementary school at Fort Stewart. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District and prime contractor Sauer, Inc., the new Murray Elementary School is equipped with over 450 solar panels, a wind turbine, and other sustainable design features.
  • Kennedy Flame to receive upgrades

    – The Norfolk District awarded a Maryland company on Jan. 31 a contract to upgrade the John F. Kennedy eternal flame at Arlington National Cemetery. Meltech Corporation Inc. of Landover, Md., will be responsible for performing the approximately $350,000 upgrade to the flame in early spring.
  • $37.8 million Fort Sill Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility contract awarded

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District awarded a $37.8 million contract June 29 to Harper Construction of San Diego, Calif. for the design and construction of a new Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility at Fort Sill, Okla.
