  • USACE and MDNR to meet with public to provide update on Holt/Doniphan County Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are hosting a public meeting to update the citizens of Holt County, Missouri, and Doniphan County, Kansas, about progress on the flood risk management study since April. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8. It will be held at the Loess Hills Lodge, 406 State Street, Mound City, Missouri.

  • USACE seeks public comment on Winnebago Tribe Broadband Fiber Optic Project

    A proposed alteration of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska/ Winnebago Tribe Broadband Fiber Optic Project, located on the Winnebago Reservation and in the adjacent communities of Emerson, Homer, and Wakefield in Thurston County, Nebraska, is currently available for public review and comment. The purpose of the project is to deploy a broadband infrastructure network to connect unserved/underserved tribal households, businesses, and community anchor institutions (i.e., schools, medical facilities) to reliable and affordable high-speed internet.

  • Local, state and federal officials to sign cost share agreement for Smokey Hill River restoration study

    Officials will sign a Feasibility Cost Share Agreement for the Smokey Hill River Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration General Investigations study in a signing ceremony in Salina, Kansas, at the Salina Public Library on July 15, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. The signing ceremony will formally initiate the General Investigations Feasibility Study. Present at the signing ceremony will be officials from the City of Salina, Senator Jerry Moran’s office and the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • Team holds meetings across the region for Lower Missouri River system plan

    Officials will hold a series of public meeting for the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also known as the system plan, throughout the region in April. The meetings, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the study, a status update, input on reach measures, flow and stage frequency analysis update and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study.

    Officials will hold a public meeting for the Lower Missouri Jefferson City spin-off study on April 25, 2024, in Jefferson City, Missouri. The meeting, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the study, a status update and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri Jefferson City spin-off study.

  • Aquatic restoration project at Harlan County Lake making progress

    Construction of the $9.25 million aquatic ecosystem restoration project continues to make progress at Harlan County Lake, Nebraska. The project is a partnership between the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and will help restore the Harlan County Lake aquatic ecosystem. Authorized under Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986, USACE awarded the construction contract on September 28, 2023. Majority of the federal funding for the project has been provided through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the 25% cost share is provided by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions Aquatic Habitat Fund.

  • Program Aims to Train Future Planning Leaders

    For over half a century the Institute for Water Resources has been training future U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil works leaders through an intensive Planning Associates Program. The vision of the program is, to “develop and sustain a national network of agile and informed planning leaders who can solve the nation’s most complex water resource issues.”

  • Public meeting scheduled on Little Goose Creek in Sheridan, WY for General Investigations study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District in coordination with the City of Sheridan, Wyoming, will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 6-7 p.m. at the Sheridan City Hall located at 55 E. Grinnell Plaza, third floor, in Sheridan, Wyoming regarding the Draft Feasibility Report for the Little Goose Creek General Investigations feasibility study and to receive input on the alternatives and tentatively selected plan.
