OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2018) – What would happen if a towboat and barge were commandeered and its hijackers threatened public safety while inside a Corps of Engineers navigation lock? First responders wrestled with this potential scenario during a tabletop exercise at Old Hickory Dam today.

Mansker Basin study to support flood preparedness

Tool streamlines Corps’ power mission response during disasters

The Emergency Power Facility Assessment Tool, or EPFAT, is designed to store important information regarding the emergency power needs of critical facilities, including hospitals and emergency response organizations. The Los Angeles District is encouraging the thousands of organizations eligible for emergency temporary power support to enroll in EPFAT, which greatly minimizes emergency response time in the event of a disaster.

Emergency Management Branch prepares for hurricane season

Continuing to operate in the aftermath of a major storm will be the focus of an exercise the district is conducting with its leaders June 4. The continuity of operations, or COOP exercise, allows the district to review its plan for conducting its most crucial tasks after it loses a critical facility, such as its main office.

ERDC team members receive recognition for achievements

Three team members were recently recognized for their significant contributions, leadership and innovation, and support to the center. Robert Pazak, a computer scientist in ERDC-TEC’s Research Division, received the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service for his “significant contributions to the calibration of the Buckeye cameras and to the color correction of Buckeye orthoimages”.
