GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 2, 2017) – Scott (Billie) Daniell has spent most of his life doing what he loves, repairing, maintaining and operating machinery. His interest in mechanics began at an early age, when he became a vehicle mechanic, but he never stopped dreaming of working on other types of mechanical equipment. When he turned 26, he enlisted in the United States Navy at Fort Worth, Texas as an aviation machines mate and began his journey that would ultimately lead him to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District.

GALVESTON, Texas (Jan. 5, 2017) – Born and raised in the state of Kentucky, where attending the Derby every year is a ritual, Sarah Futrell decided to make her first out-of-state move when she was offered the position as a safety and occupational health specialist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District. It was a significant change from growing up in the countryside to residing along the Texas Coast, but Futrell was ready to leave her comfort zone for a more challenging opportunity.

Employee Spotlight: Park Ranger Kenneth Myers

Ken Myers is a 45-year-old Corps of Engineers Sacramento District ranger for Hensley Lake and has worked for the Corps for four years. He has also worked at H.V. Eastman Lake. Along with those mentioned, Myers’ other duties include being a Certified Playground Safety Inspector, Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle operator and SPK Water Safety Committee member. He is a former U.S. Army Military Police and a Disabled Veteran.

USACE Galveston District’s Employee Spotlight on David Mackintosh

While mobilized to Lufkin, Texas, as a wildland firefighter to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, David Mackintosh took notice of tireless work of those assigned to the Operation Blue Roof Program managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Inspired by the efficiency, hard work and character of the USACE staff, Mackintosh redirected his energy and set out to begin a career as a park ranger for the USACE.
