    CARTHAGE, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2019) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Operations Division personnel attended a three-day class learning how to operate and maneuver various types of heavy equipment at the Cordell Hull Resource Managers Office.
  • NR 19-037: Center Hill Lake beach closed due to high bacteria levels

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 2, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., due to high bacteria levels in the water. The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching. No other beaches at Center Hill Lake are affected.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 26, 2019) – Park rangers at Dale Hollow Lake recently teamed up with partner agencies to emphasize the importance of water safety with youngsters attending the Seventh Annual Wilderness Day Camp along the Obey River below Dale Hollow Dam in Celina, Tenn.

  • Avichal becomes 66th commander of Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 28, 2019) – Lt. Col. Sonny B. Avichal took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 66th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
