    LANCASTER, Tenn. (June 28, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Center Hill Power Plant. These are the first tours of the power plant since the Corps restricted visitation after Sept. 11, 2001.

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (June 23, 2012)—The first Lake Barkley Resource Management Office Open House and public tours of the Barkley Power Plant and Navigation Lock in nearly 11 years were held today to better inform the public about the benefits these facilities provide to the nation. Public access to these U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District areas had been restricted since the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

  • NR 12-019: State highway over Center Hill Dam restricted to one lane starting July 9

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces today Highway 96/141 over Center Hill Dam is being restricted to one lane starting July 9, 2012. The restriction is necessary to enlarge work space on the dam to support the next construction phase of the Center Hill Dam Foundation Remediation Project, installation of the foundation barrier wall. During the two-year duration of the lane restriction, an automated traffic control system will safely manage vehicles across the dam. The maximum wait time is five minutes.
  • NR 12-018: Milestone reached with completion of protective concrete embankment wall at Wolf Creek Dam

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (June 22, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District reached a major milestone here this week at the Wolf Creek Dam Foundation Remediation Project when work crews installed the 433rd and final panel in completing the protective concrete embankment wall. While this wall does not create a water barrier through the dam’s karst limestone foundation, it completes a major stage of construction that is critical to the final stage of construction – the main barrier wall, which is scheduled to be completed by December 2013.
