Heesaker is the July 2020 Employee of the month
District leadership recognizes Heesaker for his excellent performance assisting in the overall administration of contracts for operations, maintenance, and renovations of buildings, grounds, utilities and recreation facilities. He also implements the quality assurance program for a contract valued at over $1 million supporting recreation and environmental stewardship at J. Percy Priest Lake.

Army Corps, Baltimore District receives additional $18 million for projects in Chesapeake Bay region
The approximately $18.2 million includes funding for Chesapeake Bay oyster restoration, study of Baltimore Harbor improvements and restoring degraded aquatic habitat in Prince George’s County.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers identifies short-term natural disaster recovery activities funded by the Additional Supplemental Appropriations Disaster Relief Act, 2019
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today work that it will accomplish with Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies, Operation and Maintenance, and Mississippi River and Tributaries account funding provided for emergency recovery efforts in the Additional Supplemental Appropriations Disaster Relief Act, 2019, Public Law 116-20. The act was signed into law June 6, 2019.

President’s 2020 Budget: $210.6 Million requested for Pittsburgh District
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District reports that the President’s Fiscal Year 2020 Budget includes $210.6 million in new federal funding for the district’s civil works program.

Army Corps, Baltimore District to receive more than $68 million in President’s proposed fiscal 2020 budget
The President’s proposed fiscal 2020 Civil Works Budget released March 12 includes $4.827 billion in gross discretionary funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works program, including funding for the following Baltimore District projects: $17.3 million in Poplar Island expansion construction; $4 million for dredging of the Wicomico River; $20.4 million for dredging of Maryland and Virginia harbors and channels; and more than $28 million for operation and maintenance of flood risk management projects across Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia
