Erie Township Sanitary Sewer Project, Phase I completed

The Ottawa County Sanitary Engineering Department completed Phase I of the Erie Township Sanitary Sewer Project with partial funding through the Water Resources Development Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-53), Section 594 program administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

2018 ushers in major milestones for the Missouri River Recovery Program

The efforts of those involved in the Missouri River Recovery Program culminated in several significant milestones in 2018, including receiving a biological opinion with a “no-jeopardy” finding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, signing the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement Record of Decision, as well as the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee’s 10-year anniversary celebration.

Anacostia Watershed Restoration project plan in Prince George’s County gets green light from Army Corps

Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, chief of engineers and commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has signed the Chief’s Report for the Anacostia Watershed Restoration study in Prince George’s County that recommends restoring 7 miles of instream habitat, opening 4 miles for fish passage and connecting 14 miles of stream to previously restored stream reaches.

Director shows interest in Nashville’s Sevenmile Creek project

Buffalo District employs risk management and systems approach executing the Braddock Bay ecosystem restoration project

Two years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District began a $10 million project to restore the Braddock Bay ecosystem in Greece, NY. Erosion had washed away emergent wetlands and invasive species dominated the marshes. Today, species-rich native communities blossom with emergent aquatic meadows, and restored beach habitat are visited by a variety of shorebirds including black-bellied plover, Baird’s sandpiper, and the federally endangered piping plover.

Corps to host Eagle Days event at Smithville Lake

SMITHVILLE, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites the public to Smithville Lake’s 24th Annual Eagle Days in Smithville, Mo., Jan. 5 and 6, 2019. The two-day event is highlighted by live predatory bird programs hosted by Operation Wildlife on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course Complex. Several other vendors will participate Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. Eagle viewing stations with spotting scopes and agency personnel will be available to help visitor's view live eagles in the wild.
