Corps announces road closure at Mel Rieman Recreation Area

ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, announced today that the road through the Mel Rieman Recreation Area on Lake Ashtabula near Valley City, North Dakota, will be closed effective immediately. A failing culvert has produced unsafe driving conditions.

Army Corps announces installation of Jennings Randolph Lake Downstream Early Warning System

Fee collections were suspended earlier this year when recreation areas were closed due to COVID-19 precautions.

Coli.). The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching.
