  • Notice of Five-Year Review: Chemours Chambers Works FUSRAP Site Deepwater, NJ

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Philadelphia District, is addressing radiological contamination in specific areas of the Chemours Chambers Works site in Deepwater, New Jersey. In the 1940s, manufacturing operations for the federal government resulted in limited areas of soil and groundwater contamination. USACE is addressing site cleanup under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). USACE is currently conducting a five-year review. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the implementation and performance of the site remedy to determine if the remedy is and will continue to protect human health and the environment.

  • PROPOSED PLAN AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT FOR THE BALANCE OF PLANT AND GROUNDWATER OPERABLE UNITS OF THE NIAGARA FALLS STORAGE SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is pleased to announce the availability of the Proposed Plan, Balance of Plant and Groundwater Operable Units, Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS).   • BUFFALO DISTRICT COMPLETES REMEDIAL ACTION AT FORMERLY UTILIZED SITES REMEDIAL ACTION PROGRAM VICINITY PROPERTY

    On July 7, 2020, members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District team performed radon flux sampling at the Tonawanda Landfill Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Vicinity Property to verify that the record of decision cleanup goals were met. Validated data gathered from the 108 radon flux canisters that were placed over the excavation areas of the vicinity property indicate that the cleanup goals were indeed met.
  • CONTRACT AWARDED FOR PRODUCTION BUILDING REMOVAL AT THE LUCKEY FUSRAP SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a cost reimbursable contract to North Wind Site Services, LLC, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, for the removal of the former Production Building, the largest building on the Luckey Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Site.
  • LUCKEY FUSRAP SITE SAFELY TRANSPORTS 5,000th TRUCKLOAD OF MATERIAL FOR DISPOSAL – PHASE 1 EXCAVATION COMPLETE

    The 5,000th truck left the Luckey Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program Site today, loaded with material contaminated with beryllium, radium-226, thorium-230, uranium-234, uranium-238, and lead, which marks the substantial completion of Phase 1.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is pleased to announce the release of the feasibility study for the Balance of Plant and Groundwater Operable Units of the Niagara Falls Storage Site.   • Joslyn Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program Site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is pleased to announce the award of a remedial investigation contract for the former Joslyn Manufacturing and Supply Company located in Fort Wayne, Indiana under the authority of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). The remedial investigation contract was awarded to Plexus Scientific Corporation of Alexandria, Virginia.
  • Buffalo District begins remediation of the Tonawanda Landfill Vicinity Property FUSRAP Site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District is excited to announce the beginning of remediation at the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Tonawanda Landfill Vicinity Site Property. Groundbreaking began on June 12th, 2019 with the first containers shipped off site to a disposal facility in Bellville, Michigan occurring on June 18th, 2019.
