  • USACE Vicksburg District to offer daily, annual day passes online for Mississippi lakes

    VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces that Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid and Grenada Lake visitors can purchase daily and annual day use passes online.

  • Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Army Corps of Engineers Birthday and Juneteenth Celebration

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that it will waive day use fees at more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of the USACE birthday, June 16, and Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19. The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at Lake Red Rock, Saylorville Lake, Coralville Lake and USACE-operated areas on the Mississippi River. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities (group picnic shelters) and events. Other agencies or vendors that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.

  • Rapid mountain snowmelt; above-average May runoff

    Warm temperatures in the mountainous region of the upper Missouri River Basin has led to a quick melt of the mountain snowpack. The rapid melting combined with precipitation in the western half of the Basin resulted in above-average inflow into the reservoir system. May runoff for the Basin above Sioux City, IA was 4.9 million acre-feet, 144% of average.

  • Tuttle Creek Lake closes River Pond Road for scheduled maintenance

    Tuttle Creek Lake, near Manhattan, Kansas, will be closing River Pond Road starting June 12, 2023, for scheduled maintenance. Work is scheduled to take place throughout the area from June 12 to July 7, 2023, but is subject to change due to weather. Any changes to the dates of closure will be posted as soon as they are made available by the contractor. Public access to the stilling basin or “tubes” area, as well as shelters three and four, will be impacted during this time.

    SOMERSET, Ky. (June 1, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that parking will be limited at the Lake Cumberland Resource Management Office and Visitor Center during brief periods in June and July 2023 while contractors install solar power at this location.

  • Day use recreation areas at Cochiti Lake closed due to high water levels

    Due to high water levels inundating all of the day use areas on the Cochiti side of the lake, these areas have been closed until further notice. This includes the Swim Beach and the boat ramp day use area.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, continues its efforts to reopen Blackhawk Park, near De Soto, Wisconsin, and about 30 miles south of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
