  • Army awards final technology for renewable and alternative energy MATOC

    Sept. 23, a group of qualified biomass technology contractors was identified and awarded 13 Multiple Award Task Order Contracts (MATOC) by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, working with the Army Energy Initiatives Task Force (EITF). The biomass awards complete the first round for each of the four technologies under a $7 billion MATOC for renewable and alternative energy power production for Department of Defense installations which also includes geothermal, solar and wind companies.

  • Albuquerque District Will Celebrate National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day (NPLD) on Sept. 28. Albuquerque District will host five NPLD events this year at Abiquiu, Conchas, Cochiti and Santa Rosa lakes in New Mexico and John Martin Reservoir in Southeastern Colorado.

  • Corps announces changes to Lock Schedules on the Alabama River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today navigation lock changes on the Alabama River. Beginning the week of October 6, 2013 all navigation locks on the Alabama River will change to fall/winter schedules. R. F. Henry, Millers Ferry, and Claiborne Locks will change to Monday-Thursday operations, 6 a.m.- 4 p.m. Central Standard Time. This schedule will continue until March 2014.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a task order contract for transient quarters and dining facility in Manama, Bahrain, on Sept. 11. ECC CENTCOM Constructors, LLC, of Burlingame, Calif., was awarded the task order contract for $40.3 million.
