    Lt. Col. Gant, Commander, Albuquerque District, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new Border Patrol Station in Clint, Texas on February 22, 2013.
  • Nashville District completes Wolf Creek Dam barrier wall

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (March 6, 2013) – Construction workers placed concrete for the last pile today, which completes the underground barrier wall and paves the way for raising the Lake Cumberland pool level. It is the last of 1,197 piles that are approximately four feet in diameter and extend 275 feet from near the top of the dam into bedrock below the foundation of the 4,000-foot long embankment of Wolf Creek Dam.
  • USACE Galveston District awards task order contract for mooring buoy installation and repair along Texas coast

    GALVESTON, Texas (March 1, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a task order contract in the amount of $260,792.34 to J.M. Davidson Inc., for mooring buoy installation and repair work at the Port Arthur, Bolivar, Pelican Island and Chocolate Bayou mooring areas along the Texas coast.
  • Corps Suspends Drought Operations on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin

    Drought conditions throughout many areas of the Southeastern United States have begun to improve. Rainfall has been above normal for the past month throughout the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River system, which has led to increased inflows into the lakes and the river system. Under the provisions of the Revised Interim Operations Plan (RIOP), when the composite conservation storage in the ACF system enters Zone 1 along with favorable hydrologic conditions, drought operations are suspended and normal operations resume.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reissues permit for Cape Coral docks and seawalls

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Jacksonville District today reissued Programmatic General Permit (PGP) SAJ-91, authorizing the city of Cape Coral to process permits for the construction, maintenance, and repair of single-family docks and seawalls along the city shoreline. The original five-year permit was issued in October 2007 and expired in October 2012 and has since been under review.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Jacksonville District has issued Nationwide Permit 3, authorizing a one-time dredging event for Clam Pass, the inlet between Clam Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

  • District helps improve LA-area recruiting efforts with new joint recruiting center

    The Los Angeles District helped open the doors to the newest joint recruiting center in LA county in a ceremony in El Monte Feb. 26. "This facility is an example of how the Corps of Engineers is ‘Building Strong and Taking Care of People,’ starting with our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines, and our new recruits, who will play such a critical role in helping to maintain the strength of our Nation," said Lt. Col. Alex Deraney, deputy commander of the Los Angeles District, during the ceremony.
