This accomplishment reflects significant progress in constructing the new lock, which aims to enhance navigation efficiency on the Tennessee River.

    SARASOTA, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Operation Blue Roof Program contractors install first blue roof at a record-setting pace, one-week post-storm and one day after the issuance of the notice to proceed, in the wake of the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.

  • Divers and remote technology assist with maintenance at Wilson Lock

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is taking steps to address critical maintenance concerns at Wilson Lock on the Tennessee River, where divers and remotely-operated technology are working together to inspect the main chamber gates. On Oct. 9, 2024, a dive support team, assisted by specialists from the USACE Engineer Research and Development Center, conducted a detailed inspection following the discovery of cracks on both the land and river side gates, which prompted the closure of the main chamber.

  • Corps of Engineers announces public meeting for Foxland Harbor Marina

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District plans to hold a public meeting at Volunteer State Community College October 24th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. to present the draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Foxland Harbor Marina project. The public is invited to share feedback with the Nashville District team at this event.

  • Bussey Point 2024 Deer Hunts canceled due to storm damage at Thurmond Lake

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, J. Strom Thurmond, Forest, Fish, and Wildlife Section is cancelling the Bussey Point Corps Management Unit 2024 deer hunts due to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

  • Corps of Engineers hosts open house for the proposed Lock and Dam 10 mooring cell

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting an informational open house to discuss the proposed Lock and Dam 10 mooring cell project, Nov. 7, at Guttenberg Public Library from 5-7 p.m. The public is welcome to drop in to learn more and meet with staff. There will be no formal presentation. The library is located at 603 South 2nd St., Guttenberg, Iowa.

    TAMPA, Fla- U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Hydrographic Survey Boat teams surveyed the Tampa Harbor and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway which assisted the Coast Guard with quickly restoring navigation channels in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton to facilitate the arrival of commercial fuel and shipping vessels in the Tampa Harbor.
