  • Detroit District set to assist state assessments of dam failures and flooding impacts

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has assembled and deployed teams to mid-Michigan tasked with completing site assessments and evaluating dams impacted by severe weather. After a request by the State of Michigan, the Detroit District is performing technical assistance for Midland and Gladwin Counties. Coordination is ongoing with state and local leadership to identify opportunities to provide technical expertise in assessing the conditions of the dams on the Tittabawassee River and to reduce further risk of failure.
  • Seattle District begins to deploy local employees for Harvey recovery

    A local Seattle District expert, normally a construction manager at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, is traveling today to Louisiana to provide technical commodity distribution planning, training and management support to FEMA at the Regional Response Coordination Center and Initial Operating Facility to support federal Harvey recovery efforts.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District Project Management Chief Tom LaVean is deploying to Afghanistan on October 30, 2016. This is Mr. LaVean’s third civilian deployment since starting with the Corps of Engineers in 2009.
  • Employees tune into Hurricane Sandy call for assistance

    Nashville, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2012) – Hurricane Sandy did not have an effect on Music City, but several Nashville District employees did tune into the immediate call for assistance on the east coast and volunteered to deploy and assist with the recovery effort.
