    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (May 19, 2023) – The Ohio River Basin Inspection Tour visited western Kentucky this week where stakeholders of the basin highlighted healthy and productive ecosystems, reliable flood risk management, and resilience of the Ohio River waterway system for inland navigation. They also navigated to the Kentucky Lock Addition Project for a construction update and better understanding of how the larger lock will help unlock congested commercial barge traffic.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 1, 2021) – Lt. Col. Joe M. Sahl took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 67th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 17, 2021) – Officials honored a structural engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District as a “Modern-Day Technology Leader” during the 35th Black Engineer of the Year Awards’ Technology Recognition Ceremony Feb. 12 in Detroit, Michigan.

    Using strategically placed water monitoring equipment and a field team, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing technical advice for St. Clair River U.S. and Canadian coast guard ice breaking operations. The technical advice helps identify areas to focus ice breaking efforts and Corps of Engineers Emergency Management is helping coordinate efforts across local, state, state and federal governments.
