• Philpott Lake and Dam Water Storage Reallocation Public Scoping Session

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, will hold a Public Scoping Session on April 15, 2021 at 6 p.m. at the Henry County Administrative Building, 1st Floor Conference Room, 3300 Kings Mountain Road, Martinsville, VA to discuss a Water Storage Reallocation Feasibility Study at Philpott Lake and Dam located in Patrick, Franklin, and Henry Counties in Virginia. The scoping session will also be broadcast via Facebook live-stream for those unable to attend in person.
  • ERDC’s Field Research Facility holds groundbreaking ceremony for new annex

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new annex building at its Field Research Facility in Duck, North Carolina, April 6, 2021. ​The $4.3-million annex will consist of laboratory and research administrative spaces to support the organization’s expanded military research mission. In collaboration with the Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence, the Field Research Facility develops methods to protect forces, conduct forcible and early entry and transition rapidly to offensive operations.
  • 21-018 JOINT RELEASE: Federal agencies increase Boise River flows for irrigation season

    BOISE, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation will gradually increase Boise River flows through the City of Boise from approximately 250 to 500 cubic feet per second (cfs), beginning April 7 through April 15, to meet initial irrigation diversions.
  • USACE Vicksburg District begins 24-hour high water surveillance, closes areas at Arkabutla Lake

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has begun 24-hour surveillance of flood control structures at Arkabutla Lake due to high water. High water levels have also closed the following roads and areas at the lake: the dam road; Baker Road; Highway 51 Landing; Highway 51 East Access; Dietchman’s Road Access; Coldwater Point; and sites 18, 19, 24, and 25 at South Abutment Campground.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to resume Rochester Harbor east pier repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, and its contractor, Dean Marine & Excavating, Inc., are scheduled to resume repairs of the Rochester Harbor east pier, located in Rochester, New York, in April 2021.
  • USACE implementing changes to day use fee collection operations at Granger & Georgetown Lakes

    Changes will be implemented at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District parks on Granger Lake and Georgetown Lake immediately.
  • South Jetty rehab close parts of Fort Stevens State Park

    South Jetty rehabilitation will temporarily close the observation tower at Lot “C” at Fort Stevens State Park beginning April 19. Lot “C” and the bathrooms remain open for public access but the tower will be closed until further notice. Construction progress will determine the reopening date and a separate announcement will follow.
  • Philpott day use parks are going cashless

    New autopay machines were installed at two Philpott Lake parks managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). These machines will replace the Honor Vault at Ramp 1 and the gate attendant at Bowens Creek Park. All fees for these parks will be processed through the machines.
  • South Bay Boat Ramp closed temporarily April 12 and 13 due to construction

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces that the boat ramp at the South Bay Recreation Area will be closed temporarily on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13, 2021, due to cutoff wall construction on the Herbert Hoover Dike.
  • My Hurricane Laura Deployment Experience

    Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself. Most recently, I was deployed down to Lafayette, Louisiana, along with several other USACE teammates, and we were assigned to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s temporary housing mission.
