    Army Corps of Engineers assisting with local flood fight efforts

    The Emergency Operations Center at the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is activated in response to an atmospheric river and heavy precipitation impacting the region. Several Western Washington river are expected to rise to flood stage with significant impacts predicted to occur in the Skagit, Snohomish and Snoqualmie river basins. The Nooksack, Stillaguamish, Skykomish, Carbon, Nisqually, Puyallup, Chehalis, Cowlitz, Newaukum, and Skookumchuck rivers are also being closely monitored. Rain is anticipated to continue through today with rivers expected to crest Saturday.

    Corps hosts public meetings for Akun Harbor study

    Representatives for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District will host two public participation meetings on Nov. 15 and 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the Safe Harbor Church and Community Center, also known as the “Trident Church Building,” in Akutan for anyone interested in learning about the Akun Harbor study. The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and submit comments throughout the presentations.

    Rend Lake Park Ranger Becomes First-Ever 2x Recipient of National Award

    U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resource Specialist Timothy Bischoff received the service’s Hiram H. Chittenden Award for Interpretive Excellence today. Bischoff, the service’s first ever two-time recipient of the award was recognized by the 55th Chief of Engineers Lieutenant General Scott A. Spellmon, in a virtual service-wide ceremony.

    Record of Decision released for the former Harshaw Chemical Company FUSRAP site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, has released the Record of Decision for Operable Unit (OU) 1 and OU-2, Former Harshaw Chemical Company Site. The 55-acre former Harshaw Chemical Company Site, which is located at 1000 Harvard Avenue in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, is being addressed under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP).

    St. Paul District assists Kansas City District with Dredge Goetz on Missouri River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, collaborated with the St. Paul District, of the Mississippi Valley Division, to bring the Dredge Goetz onto the Missouri River from late October through early November 2021 to participate in a pilot project to dredge sediment that had created shallow areas in the shipping channel.
