• Temporary full road closure of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is scheduling a full road closure for Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 6:30 a.m. on July 31 until 5 p.m. Aug. 2, 2023, to deploy and remove equipment used to perform maintenance on the dam.
  • Corps of Engineers begins structure maintenance in Charlevoix

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District will begin planned maintenance work in the navigation channel in Charlevoix, Michigan this month to replace deteriorating timber fenders along the channel revetments. The repairs are funded through a Fiscal Year 2023 Work Plan budget package of $530,000 and will be used to replace 1,100 feet of timber fenders along the north and south channel revetment walls. The timber fenders protect the structures from vessel impact. The existing weathered timber fenders along the revetments are beyond their design life and require replacement.
  • U.S. Army Corps resumes Grand Haven dredging with additional E.coli testing

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District (USACE) will resume dredging in Grand Haven Harbor on Wednesday, July 12, with additional testing for E. Coli and safety measures. King Co. Inc., under an Army Corps contract, will dredge the remaining 35,000 of 141,000 cubic yards of sediment contracted to be removed from the outer harbor in Grand Haven to keep the commercial channel navigable throughout the remainder of the year. The Army Corps paused dredging at the location Friday, July 7, out of an abundance of caution after the Ottawa County Health Department issued a “no body contact” warning because of high concentrations of E. coli at North Park Beach in Ferrysburg.     ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will celebrate the completion of the Pool 2 wing dam modification project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 25, at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, at 1 p.m. Lock and Dam 2 is located at 1350 Lock and Dam Road.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District real estate specialists will be going door to door seeking rights of entry (ROEs) from Orange County property owners, July 14. The Galveston District is seeking the ROEs to conduct cultural resource and geotechnical investigations in support of the Orange County Coastal Storm Risk Management Project. The Orange County Project is part of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay (S2G) Coastal Storm Risk Management Program.

    Above average rainfall and fast-melting snow led to above average runoff in the upper Missouri River Basin in June. Runoff above Sioux City, Iowa was 6.7 million acre-feet, which is 122% of average. The annual runoff forecast above Sioux City, Iowa is 29.2 MAF, 114% of average, and about 2.4 MAF higher than last month’s forecast.
