• Corps, Friends of LA River to host National Public Lands Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, in partnership with the Friends of the Los Angeles River, will host a National Public Lands Day clean-up event Sept. 28 at the Sepulveda Basin.
  • Contract awarded for drainage structure work for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for constructing two major drainage structures for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project. WSLP contract 114a will construct drainage structures at Hope Canal and Prescott Canal, which will be key features to ensure that the 18.5-mile-long levee system has effective drainage and can provide 100-year level risk reduction to the area primarily in St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles Parish.

By bringing computation and data storage closer to the location where it is needed, response times, reliability and performance are greatly improved, latency and bandwidth costs are reduced and privacy and security are enhanced. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) Edge Computing Lab has long been on the cutting-edge of this field and is now exploring something new: neuromorphic computing.

    Biennial dredging of Fairport Harbor’s federal navigation channel by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is complete.  Dredging of Fairport Harbor ensures accessible depths for large vessels, the continued flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of United States waterways.
