Army Corps of Engineers awards contract to replace floodwall near Penn Street

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, awarded a contract March 5, 2021, to Mohawk Valley Materials, Inc., a woman-owned small business (WOSB) based out of Rome, New York, for approximately $3.23 million to replace the floodwall adjacent to Penn Street. This floodwall is part of USACE's Codorus Creek flood risk management project.

Corps to host virtual public meetings for Tar Pamlico River Basin feasibility study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a feasibility study on the Tar Pamlico River Basin and will host a series of virtual public involvement meetings to gather community input on the feasibility study. This particular study is being led by our Pittsburgh District with the combined resources of Wilmington District. It is not uncommon for the Corps of Engineers to share resources between districts. This is just one example of USACE’s ability to bring the full force of the entire enterprise to meet any challenge.

USACE signs Record of Decision for the Mississippi River mainline levees Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement II

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) signed the Record of Decision for the Final Supplement II (Final SEIS II) to the 1976 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Project, Mississippi River Mainline Levees (MRL), on March 11.

21-010 Dworshak Dam discharges to decrease to 10,500 cfs for upcoming week

AHSAHKA, Idaho – In order to meet flood control targets for March and April, Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases starting Friday night, March 12, at midnight. This decrease will result in the river lowering less than 1 foot over the hour between midnight on Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday morning, and less than 1 foot between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., after which time flows will remain constant.

Great Lakes water levels lower than 2020 heading into spring rise

DETROIT- Great Lake water levels in 2021 are tracking below last year’s levels, though Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, St. Clair and Erie remain well above long-term average levels, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials who track and forecast Great Lakes water levels.
