Chaplain Lorenzen received his commission in U.S. Army Reserves through ROTC in 1996. He completed Engineer Officer Basic Course as an honor graduate at Ft. Leonardwood, MO in 1997. His ten years of service in the Army Reserves were fulfilled as a Bridge Platoon Leader, Detachment Commander, Assistant Branch Chief (TASS), and Company Commander of 1/414 Echo Company. He reclassified as a Chaplain Candidate in Fall 2003. In SEPT 2004 he graduated from the U.S. Army Chaplain School in Ft. Jackson, SC. He graduated the Chaplain Captains Career Course (C4) at Ft. Jackson, SC in DEC 2010. Chaplain Lorenzen completed the Family Life

Chaplain Training at Ft. Benning, GA and graduated with a Masters Science (M.S.) in Counseling from Columbus State University in 2015. In 2019, he graduated Command and General Staff Course (CGSC).

Chaplain Lorenzen received his undergraduate from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Material Science and Engineering specializing in Ceramic Engineering. He worked at the Intel Corporation for 10 years in various engineering and management positions. While working at Intel he attended Western Theological Seminary. In 2007 he graduated with honors with a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) with an emphasis in exegetical studies. Chaplain Lorenzen, with his wife Shelby, served at Southwest Bible Church in Beaverton, OR while in seminary. He is endorsed as a U.S. Army Chaplain through the Evangelical Church Alliance (ECA).

Chaplain Lorenzen’s first assignment was with the 82nd ABN DIV, 18th Fires Brigade, 1-321 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment Battalion at Ft Liberty, NC from SEP 2007 to JUN 2010. He deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom IX-X from JAN to DEC 2009. He was then assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida from DEC 2010 to MAY 2013. During this assignment he served as the Group Support Battalion (GSB) Chaplain. While assigned to 7SFG(A) he deployed to Afghanistan from FEB to JUL 2012, in support of Special Operation Task Force Southeast (SOTF-SE). He completed his utilization as the Garrison Family Life Chaplain for Joint Base Lewis- McChord (JBLM). In this role he personally provided over 1300 hours of counseling and supervised over 3000 hours of care to Family and Service Members as the director of the Chaplain Family Life Center.

From JUN 2017-2019, Chaplain Lorenzen was assigned to Ft Carson, Colorado as the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Group Chaplain. He completed two more combat trips in support of Resolute Support Mission (RSM) through Special Operation Task Force - Afghanistan. Chaplain Lorenzen next served as the Division Artillery (DIVARTY) Chaplain for the 82nd ABN DIV. From JUL 2020-2022 he served as the Command Chaplain for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), Homestead, FL. His last was as the Deputy Garrison Chaplain for Ft. Liberty, NC between JUL 2022 and AUG 2024.

Chaplain Lorenzen is currently the Command Chaplain, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, DC. Chaplain Lorenzen’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious

Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 2OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/ 2OLC, Army Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ 3 Campaign Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOTSM), Joint Service Achievement Medal w/ C-Device, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge (CAB), Air Assault Badge and Senior Parachutist Badge. He is a graduated from the Jumpmaster Course at the Advanced Airborne School at Ft Bragg, NC in 2008. He is a graduate of the United States Army Ranger School, NOV 2012.

Chaplain Lorenzen is married to Shelby Cay and has been blessed with four daughters and a son. His hobbies include photography, marksmanship, and hiking. He and his family enjoy camping, game nights, and trips to the beach.
