Direct Hiring Authority (DHA)

A Direct-Hire Authority (DHA) is a special hiring authority granted by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to Federal agencies. It is used to address critical hiring needs or a severe shortage of candidates for specific positions.

With DHA, agencies can bypass standard hiring procedures and appoint qualified candidates directly into competitive service career, career-conditional, term, or temporary positions. This flexibility allows agencies to quickly fill roles that traditional hiring methods cannot meet due to urgency or skill scarcity.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking talented individuals to fill critical vacancies in the following positions:

  • 0401: Natural Resources Management/Biological Sciences
  • 0802: Engineering Technician

Qualifications

To qualify for a tentative selection under DHA, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications established by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). These qualifications include a combination of experience, education, or both, relevant to the position.
