  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts job fair in Clewiston

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a job fair next week in Clewiston as the organization seeks to fill multiple positions in south Florida. The event will take place Thursday, August 1, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ South Florida Operations Office at 525 Ridgelawn Road, Building SF-2, Classroom 525, Clewiston, Florida.

  • Corps offers series of webinars on Lake O water management

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District will offer a series of lunchtime webinars to provide background information on water management in south Florida as it pertains to Lake Okeechobee and the region. Jacksonville District staff will conduct six webinars, the first beginning at noon, May 20. The intent is to provide information to the public on the Central & Southern Florida Project water management system as work continues on the new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM).

  • Corps awards contract for Herbert Hoover Dike culvert replacement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Jacksonville District has awarded a contract to replace the 26th and final water control structure within the Herbert Hoover Dike (HHD) as part of the ongoing rehabilitation project for the earthen structure surrounding Lake Okeechobee.

  • DSAC-University Detail

    Greg Hammer of the Huntington Districts (DSMMCX) completed a DSAC-U detail to the Jacksonville District (SAJ) office to assist with the Herbert Hoover Dike cutoff wall construction. The detail was to provide technical background for a similar project to be performed at Moose Creek Dam in Alaska.

  • Corps invites public to provide input on new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District invites the public to provide scoping input on the development of the new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM). A series of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public scoping meetings will be held throughout south Florida during the month of February and public scoping comments will be accepted until March 31, 2019.

  • USACE adjusts Lake Okeechobee releases

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District will adjust flows from Lake Okeechobee starting Friday (Aug. 24, 2018). The releases will achieve a 14-day average of 2,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) from Moore Haven Lock & Dam (S-77) and 1,500 cfs pulse from St. Lucie Lock &Dam (S-80).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has signed an agreement with the State of Florida to accept an additional $50 million of state funds to help with rehabilitation of the Herbert Hoover Dike surrounding Lake Okeechobee.
