    The Veterans Curation Program provides five months of paid, intensive archaeological curation training to recently-separated Veterans, using collections from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Veterans are not only helping the Corps rehabilitate vast archaeological collections to museum standards to aid in future research but are also learning important career-building skills. The VCP laboratory in Alexandria held an open house Jan. 12, 2016, so the 12 employed Veterans could demonstrate their work in archiving and artifacts and discuss how the program is helping them to prepare for the future.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District held its semiannual retiree luncheon today, but it wasn’t an ordinary get together. The group decided instead to salute employees, retirees and their family members who served with honor during the Vietnam War.
  • District helps improve LA-area recruiting efforts with new joint recruiting center

    The Los Angeles District helped open the doors to the newest joint recruiting center in LA county in a ceremony in El Monte Feb. 26. "This facility is an example of how the Corps of Engineers is ‘Building Strong and Taking Care of People,’ starting with our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines, and our new recruits, who will play such a critical role in helping to maintain the strength of our Nation," said Lt. Col. Alex Deraney, deputy commander of the Los Angeles District, during the ceremony.
  • District Supports San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade

    Lt. Col. Alex Deraney, Los Angeles District deputy commander, and his wife Marisa represented the District at the San Fernando Valley Veterans Day parade Nov. 11 in Pacoima, Calif., which also featured a carnival and information booths for community groups and service organizations like the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Veterans Administration providing information for veterans and their families.
