  • Army Corps to conduct repairs on St. Georges Bridge; bridge to remain closed to traffic for 18 months

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is reminding motorists, bicyclists, and nearby residents that a major repair project will commence in April at the St. Georges Bridge along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware. During construction, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic for approximately 18 months. St. Georges Bridge will close to all traffic starting on April 4, 2023.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced a major repair project will commence in early April at the St. Georges Bridge along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware. During construction, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic for approximately 18 months.

  • Army Corps awards contract for beach nourishment along Delaware Coast

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District awarded a contract to Weeks Marine of Cranford, N.J. for $23.8 million to conduct periodic nourishment on three dune and beachfill projects along the Delaware coast. The contract is a joint effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

  • Army Corps and Delaware sign cost-sharing agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District has signed a feasibility cost sharing agreement with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) to initiate a new study for the Delaware Inland Bays.

  • Public Safety Reminder Regarding Cliff Diving

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to remind the public that cliff jumping/diving at all Huntington District managed lakes remains strictly prohibited. These lakes are as follows: Alum Creek, Deer Creek, Delaware, Dillon, North Branch of Kokosing and Paint Creek Lakes in Ohio; Beech Fork, Bluestone, Burnsville, East Lynn, R.D. Bailey, Summersville, and Sutton Lakes in West Virginia; Dewey, Fishtrap, Grayson, Paintsville and Yatesville Lakes in Kentucky; and John W. Flannagan in Virginia.

  • Army Corps to switch traffic pattern on SR-1 Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor are continuing work to replace the concrete deck overlay on the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (SR-1) in Delaware. Lane restrictions will be in place periodically over several months. Traffic patterns will be altered on June 10-15.

  • Army Corps shares SR-1 Bridge traffic update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor are continuing work to replace the concrete deck overlay on the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (SR-1) in Delaware. Lane restrictions will be in place periodically over several months. Traffic patterns will be altered on June 2-3 (delayed from late May). In addition, the contractor will be closing the ramp from US Route 13 to northbound SR-1 from June 1 to June 14 nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.  

  • Army Corps to conduct repairs on SR-1 Bridge in Delaware

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District will be replacing the concrete deck overlay on the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (SR-1) in Delaware beginning March 14th and ending in December 2022. The repair work will require lane restrictions and changing traffic patterns, as well as single and double lane closures.

    Mr. Michael Connor, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, and USACE senior leaders visited the Port of Wilmington and met with elected officials and partners during a Jan. 26 visit to the State of Delaware.

    Mr. Jaime Pinkham, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, and Maj. Gen. Butch Graham, USACE Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, visited Philadelphia District projects and met with partners in Delaware and Maryland on June 15-16, 2021.
